'Lewiston Strong:' Just-In-Time Recreation reopens for first time since mass shooting

LEWISTON, Maine (WGME) – Just-In-Time Recreation in Lewiston is back open for the first time since the tragic mass shooting in October.

The bowling alley was a pillar in the community before the shooting, and now it’s going to be a pillar as the healing continues.

Just-In-Time Recreation has been revamped, and the tributes include 18 special pins in honor of the 18 loves lost on Oct. 25.

The phrase “Lewiston Strong” can be seen all over the beer ads and the lanes.

"Obviously, the first time back for people, it's always going to be difficult. It was for me and everybody that I've talked to. It's a lot, but once you get past that initial entry and emotions, they, it gets a little easier each time," Just-In-Time Recreation Owner Justin Juray said.

A special opening ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. Friday.

Both Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline and Maine Governor Janet Mills are expected to speak at the event.
