Will Hurd is an American politician who was born William Ballard Hurd on August 19, 1977. He previously served as the United States Representative representing Texas’s 23rd congressional district from 2015 to 2021.
Hurd worked for the CIA for nine years, from 2000 to 2009. He ran for Congress after leaving the CIA in 2010 but was defeated in a runoff primary.
Hurd stood for re-election to Congress in 2014 and won. He was re-elected to Congress in 2016 and 2018 but did not run for re-election in 2020.

As of January 2019, Hurd was the lone Republican member of Congress representing a district along the US-Mexico border.
From 2019 through 2021, Hurd was the only African-American Republican in the House.
